Weekly Open Thread: Big Apple Edition

James is in town, visiting Gotham. What should he do while he’s here? Tell us about your favorite things in New York City in comments. (And the usual election chatter, too, of course.)

P.S. If you haven’t yet, please take the BlogAds reader survey. So far, 36 people have filled it out. I’d love to get up to 50. Thank you so much!

  1. Take a walk in Riverside Park, go to a live music venue on the Lower East Side, get a bagel at Murray’s or H&H.

And, avoid tourist traps.  Times Square?  Pretend it doesn’t exist.  Same goes for the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.

  2. Prospect Park in Brooklyn is gorgeous; it’s also not far from the guitar store my sister owns, if I may make a shameless plug.

The Staten Island Ferry is free and has terrific views; nearby, Chinatown has lots of great little ice cream shops where you can get flavors like ginger and lychee.

  3. Keep an eye out for the dark knight. You may need him if some clowns show up.

    😀  I’m such a nerd.

  4. of anyone named Petrelli, and Japanese men claiming to be time traveling Heroes.  Heroes rocks!
